Oneta is in Athens, Georgia, which is located in Northeast Georgia about 70 miles east of Atlanta. Home to the University of Georgia, Athens is also a major medical and retail center for much of northeast Georgia. It is accessed by Georgia Hwy 316 from Atlanta, US Highways 441, 129 and 78, and is served by Ben Epps Airport.

Oneta is located in the northeastern edge of downtown Athens and the historic Boulevard district, nestled between Oneta and Tracy Streets. It is just 0.6 miles to the Athens loop, and 1.2 miles to downtown Athens.

Oneta shares the Chase Park warehouse district with a number of vibrant businesses.
